Cloning help, do i need an external enclosure?

I want to clone my hard drive to use on my new one. i dont have an external hd enclosure, though, and would be happy if i didnt have to buy one.
i was hoping i could make a clone onto my networked time capsule, then replace the hard drives and somehow boot from the clone from my time capsule. help please (also time machine is not an option so please don't suggest that)

I don't think you can boot from the TC.
