Looking at the following models... Give me any suggestions! I just want to make the best buy for under $300 and at around 24 inches.

http://www.vizio.com/lcd-hdtvs/vx240m.html
http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-VM230XVT-23-Inch-XVT-1080p/dp/B002T922OC
http://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VT2430-24-Inch-1080p-HDTV/dp/B001KLEUOA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

What do you guys think? I'm not really a TV buff, I just want to make the best buy possible... My dad likes the Viewsonic, but it has mediocre reviews on Amazon. The Samsung seems nice, but there is apparently a loose part in the back. And the Vizio looks very appealing, but is it as good?

I need to use it as both a TV and a Monitor. I'll be using mini DPV to HDMI...

Thanks guys!

Any one of the Vizio's I would suggest. I love my 42" 1080p Vizio. I bought it last year and it has served me very well. Before I bought the Vizio, i had a ViewSonic 42" that was just aweful. Picture was grainy and just didnt look good. I actually took it back the same day i bought it.

Also, i would suggest on not getting the monitor because you cant watch tv on it (unless you have an external tuner and another source of audio). I love to hook my laptop up to my tv, looks just as good as any other monitor.

So I couldn't just hook up the Samsung monitor using a cable in my dorm room like a normal TV?

If both your monitor and cable box have HDMI, and you have an external source of audio, then no you cannot. Also, only HDTV boxes come with HDMI, the standard definition boxes come with Coax and A/V inputs.

and if your from the States, vizio is the official tv for the NFL or something.

I just picked up a 32" panasonic 1080p LCD for 300 shipped, no tax. You may want to consider that also. Pm me for details.

How is it as an external monitor? Not sure if it'd fit in my dorm room... :/
