Has anyone been able to rip movies into the iPod touch and see the captioning stream?

I'm not talking about the subtitles that Handbrake will "burn" into the movies, but an actual closed caption that can be turned on or off.

For deaf and hard-of-hearing users (like myself), closed captioning is a necessity.

You should check on the HandBrake website, they might have more info there.

I opened HandBrake, and don't seen any settings for captions, only subtitles.
 
Done in SVN

NTSC 608 Closed Caption support added to HandBrake SVN today, outputting to MP4 only as a selectable soft subtitle track:
