Closed clamshell issues

So I just recently hooked my macbook to an external display with wireless usb mouse and keyboard. The problem comes when the macbook goes to sleep, then the external display goes off and pressing buttons on the keyboard or mouse doesnt wake it back up... i have to open the macbook and restart which is a big pain. How can i make the keyboard turn the macbook on in its closed clamshell when it sleeps?

Does it wake up when you are connected to AC power?

You'll have to check the box "enable this keyboard to wake up from sleep" in your preferences.
