I cant seem to close out the open speech command window... it either keeps going in the dock or the desktop... what do i do??

Why do programs i use go to the dock.... i tried to remove them from the dock by dragging them to the trash can....but nothing.. they are still there... When do they go away??

Go to System Preferences and select the speech preferences (little mike icon), then turn off Apple Speakable Items.

Answer to second question: The programs in use cannot be removed without hacking the OS. Not sure how to do this. I saw it somewhere...

clicking the red dot doesn't quit the program it just closes the window. you need to actually quit file--->quit.
