For unimportant reasons, I need to have my cMBP 2012 set at a custom resolution of at least 1680x1050. I've been looking around at commands or programs that can force this resolution but it's been hard.

I found something called SetResX, which is for rMBP users, and was wondering if it was possible to use for a non-retina MBP.

I know this is possible since I have a boot-camped Windows and within Nvidia Control Panel you can set a custom resolution.

If anyone knows, let me know.

You cannot go higher than the actual resolution of the screen. That would be 1280x800 or 1440x900. You can't go higher than that.

Forcing a resolution on Windows with Nvidia Control Panel works fine... everything is squished and looks 'sharpened', but works.
