I've run into the (fairly well known) issue of my speaker output suddenly disappearing and the red light emitting from my headphone port. Clearly the macbook thinks there is an optical connection in there. Plugging headphones in works fine but as soon as I take them out it goes back to optical, not speakers.
I've tried fiddling with a blunt toothpick like so many topics suggest but have had no luck. Any other ideas?
