cmd tab bringing focus to the wrong window

I have 3 IntelliJ windows and I am on Window # 3. I do a cmd-tab and go to my browser but when I come back using cmd-tab I fall on Window #1 and I have to switch to Window #3. The problem repeats everytime. Any way to fix it?

You can use cmd+` (the backtick - same key as the tilde (~)) to switch between windows. That'll save you a small amount of effort as you can then just do cmd+tab and then hold command while double tapping backtick. I don't know of any way to force the default window, but I suspect it may need to be written in to the application itself.
