Hi,

New member and recent convert (?) to Mac. Thanks for adding me.

I bought a mid 2010 iMac with an i5 chip to do home recording awhile ago. (I'm a Linux-y kind of guy, and Windows was my go-to when dealing with men in suits.) Apart from some weird keyboard issues randomly reminding me that Macs do anything but "just work", it's been great for what I want it to do. I did have to dial it back to El Capitan from High Sierra, mind. And it looks pretty, which counts for a lot after a couple hours of your eyes going buggy.

But the PSU died last week, so I picked up a 15" mid 2009 2.53Ghz Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro to tide me over while the iMac's being fixed. It's OK, I guess -- I didn't expect much and it didn't disappoint. What it also didn't do is recognize my CME 25 key USB MIDI controller keyboard (direct or hub, powered & unpowered), which the iMac had recognized with no issues. The external Apple USB keyboard from the iMac doesn't appear on the Macbook Pro either, but the Bluetooth mouse does. I've looked around and there's scatterlings dealing with similar issues on a number of forums but nothing definitive, and nothing that's worked for me. Ideas?

Thx in advance for taking the time to read this, and for any helpful hints.
