Greetings,
I have a few issues with both Big Sur and Monterey that were not present in Mojave with the same hardware:
Mac Pro 5,1 (Mid-2010) 2x 3.46GHz 6-Core Westmere Xeon | 128GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Displays: 3x LG 4K & 3x AOC 1440p
Slot 1: Sapphire Pulse RX580 8GB (flashed by MacVidCards) (drives 3x 4K)
Slot 2: Highpoint RR840A (v1.2) 16 channel SAS/SATA
Slot 3: W4100X (drives 3x 1440p)
Slot 4: (empty); gate cover hosting SATA/eSATA adapter to external drive docks
Bay 1: 870 QVO 1TB boot drive
Bay 2: 8TB WD Red
Bay 3: 8TB Seagate Iron Wolf Pro
Bay 4: 10TB Seagate Iron Wolf Pro
Optical Bay 1: Superdrive (OEM)
Optical Bay 2 (SATA II connector): 870 QVO 1TB (boot clone)
Optical Bay 2 (physical): 8x 850 PRO 1TB –> 8TB RAID 0
USB: multiple input devices and webcam via USB 2.0 hubs; audio out: AudioEngine A2+
FireWire: (nothing current)
Line Out and Optical in/out in use

I have a few issues with both Big Sur and Monterey that were not present in Mojave with the same hardware:
- Under Mojave, the computer would execute normal Restarts, and successfully self-execute Updates from System Preferences; when I tried Big Sur, it was a nightmare to try to install with OCLP 0.6.3, even with just my RX 580 (flashed), a single display, and a single blank SSD installed. I would get partway through, then on auto-Restart, it would variably crash partway, or boot into recovery, or just panic. (Each attempt was with a blank SSD) Tried the usual, strip the hardware, reset NVRAM, SMC (several times each). Lather, rinse, repeat.
I finally found and read up on the Big Sur boot-loop issue, and instead of allowing Restarts, I babysat the install and did a hard Shutdown with the Power button each time I noticed a Restart beginning, before it got to Post/boot screen. Then I followed with a cold start, and in this manner, eventually got Big Sur installed; restored with Migration Assistant from backup (took hours, for some reason); It ran fine, more or less, used it for a few weeks, But!™… - Almost immediately I discovered I could not wake from Sleep, using mouse, keeb or Power button. Nor could I SSH in and gain shell access. Hard Shutdown required. Each of (just a few) such incidents, and I eventually disabled Sleep. (Not a massive issue, but one I’d like to resolve). Once again I disconnected /removed everything I could, including USB peripherals; no joy. Tried also to update OpenCore; no changes to either Restart or Sleep issues.
Next, I made the mistake of applying a Security Update package from System Prefs, and again it crashed on a missed auto-Restart and eventually borked my entire install completely.
In verbose mode, the last line before the screen is scrambled (usually) reads:
AMFIInitializeLocalSigningPublicKey: failed to get local signing public key (xxxxxxxxx) - For [reasons] I decided to just get onto Monterey with OCLP 0.6.6, and a stripped down hardware config; all of the above problems reoccured: Restart crashes during install, babysitting required (and still failed a few times), still can’t Sleep, and I don’t dare try to install the latest Security Update.
Then, suddenly, I start getting audio stuttering/skipping in Music, QTP, iMovie, FCP, and even Safari. Lots of troubleshooting later, I discovered if I unplug my USB audio out, or either launch or quit Airfoil and/or Satellite, I can clear the issue for hours, if not days. But it always comes back. Annoying, but I can live with it if I have to.
I have reinstalled all my hardware and peripherals, and it functions the same, and I can reliably do work (other than audio at times). I just want to be able to safely Restart, install updates, and Sleep (to both save power costs and reduce the massive amount of useless heat generated.
