I just finished watching a segment on CNN about smartphone theft and a Bill proposing a kill switch but mandatory on all smartphones. Near the end of the segment, their "Tech Expert" mentions how find my iPhone can help locate a lost or stolen iPhone and even wipe the data on the device but they make NO MENTION of activation lock. I feel as though iOS 7 doesn't get the criticism it deserves. I hate how everyone is quick to point out its flaws but the hell with new features and improvements!

Not surprising.

It's CNN... they don't specialized in accurate information.

I bet they named him the "tech expert" because he knew what a kill switch and smartphone was.

Don't agree with a reporter's opinion? Attack his personality or the publisher. Bonus points for Samsung conspiracy theories

Oh, MacRumors... never change

Maybe they just missed it because it is a new feature while Find My iPhone has been around for a longer time. They should have done more research.

It's not a matter of opinion. It's a matter of fact. And the fact is that CNN's "Tech Expert" is no expert if he can't be bothered to check apple.com or google.

You have to remember CNN is the network that will run stories they pull off of Reddit and Twitter without doing any verification. Saying there's a Samsung conspiracy is silly, it's far more likely he was just the dude in the office who knew the most about phones, which meant he kinda knew some stuff about phones.

Realistically, this kind of stuff happens with pretty much any media, especially the larger "mainstream"/"consume-it-all" type of media. Not limited to CNN or anything like that.

To be fair Samsung has been known for their... dealings.

Most of mainstream media do not know anything about tech, so I stopped expecting anything accurate from them.

Sometimes I read WSJ tech articles just for laughs.
