CNN video's automatically playing

I apologize ahead of time if this is a bone head question. Like many people I check-out the CNN news page (and Fox too!) but every time I click on a story that also includes a video, it plays automatically. Is there a way to disable this automatic video start-up function?

I just use Safari and as far as I know I haven't installed any plug-in's. Videos just start up automatically.
