I still get the CNN notification breaking news alerts on watch, but they do not make a sound or haptic feedback since I upgraded to os3. As a result, I am not aware the alerts are coming in. All other notifications work properly with my other apps, just not CNN.

Anybody else have this same issue and, if so, how did you fix it?

I think I solved it. The alert sound notification is activated through the stock iOS News App now so turned it on there and now my watch gets CNN alerts with an alert sound and haptic feedback. Seems like a backdoor way of doing it and there may be another solution, but it works.

What did you do exactly?
[doublepost=1481257567][/doublepost]Is it possible to turn off sound just for say like a certain notification like CNN but still have all other sounds on your phone active?

If I remember correctly, this is what I did: In settings on the iPhone, I went to either the News app setting or the Notifications setting and turned on notifications for the News app. And then within the News app on the iPhone, I clicked on Favorites on the bottom of the screen, then clicked on the Alert Bell in the upper left corner, then turned the switch for CNN on. I guess you have to make sure CNN is in your favorites in the News app if it is not already there. And in the watch app on the iPhone, I made sure the notifications for both CNN and News app were set to mirror iPhone alerts. I might have forgotten something, but that is pretty close to what I did if not exactly what I did. Hope that works for you.

Also, as an alternative, I noticed the AP News app works the way CNN used to work with breaking news alerts and it is much more reliable with better watch abstracts of the news stories than CNN. I think I actually like the AP News app better.
[doublepost=1481274625][/doublepost]Oh, and in answer to your 2nd question, there is no good solution as far as I know but here is somewhat of a workaround if you want to just live on vibrate mode: turn on the mute switch on either the watch glance or on the iPhone and this will turn off all sound alerts but keep the vibrate alerts. You can also turn on Do Not Disturb, but set it to allow certain people to ring through.....this will silence all alert sounds and vibrations but ring when somebody you know calls. Other than that, I guess we have to wait for Apple or the apps to build in some sort of setting to turn on and off sound alerts for specific apps.

Yeah I've heard a lot of people like the AP app. Doesn't it require and account/login though?
There's another one called Breaking News & Q I'm going to check out.

The AP app does not require a login password if you just want to have it on your iPhone and your watch. But if you want to also sync your AP News preferences across other devices like with an iPad, iPod, etc., then you would need to login for that feature. I previously looked at Breaking News, but did not hear of Q so I'll have to check it out, thanks!
