I have recently loaded cnx 2 and Iam using Jason Odells E Book,He is recommending using an auxiliary HD while editing pics,I understand that this will take sum load off of the Mac hard drive and perhaps speed things up,my question is for sum body to explain the concept a little.
After editing lets say ten raw photos, then would I delete what is on the auxiliarry drive...or remove would be better terminology,I guess what I am refering to is that I would probably just keep a dedicated aux drive just for raw pictures.
I dont mean to sound like a big dummy, just looking for sum guidence,:)

Thanks
Steve

I don't have much knowledge with Capture NX 2, but for Aperture, Lightroom, and Photoshop, files would remain on the external harddrive unless they were temporarily "pulled" into scratch for editing, etc.

By the way, that harddrive should be at a minimum FW 800 (NOT USB 2) and 7200rpm. Otherwise you'll be crawling.

If your computer will take it, go for eSATA.
