Coating on side button flaking off

Just noticed the coating on my S3 side button is flaking off, revealing what appears to be black plastic underneath. Anyone heard of or seen this before?

So the aluminum is flaking off the metal/plastic itself probably from constant abuse, exposure to sweat/fluids or it started from some type of impact, and continued on. This is what the 7000 Series will exhibit under those conditions. There has been other threads similar to yours, but in different cases. There isn’t anything you can do and it will likely continue to spread on the anodized aluminum.
