I've noticed that my current charge, according to CoconutBattery, hovers around 96% even when the Macbook says it is 100% and fully charged on the top. Is this due to the inaccuracy of CoconutBattery, or is it my battery? My battery is currently at 8 load cycles by the way, so it's pretty much brand new.

To add, I've noticed CoconutBattery tells me that my current charge is always, on average, 5% less than the one shown by Apple's, for a lack of better wording, existing battery software.

I wouldn't worry. Both numbers are an estimate. They can't be perfectly accurate.
Look at mine right now. A 2% difference.

Coconut battery is accurate and the OS fudges that number up in the menu bar. I suspect this is so users don't worry when their battery does not show 100% charged. This is a known issue.

If you open System Report and look in Power at the power readings and do the math to get the percentage, you will see Coconut battery is right on the money.
