COD 4 multiplayer?

Can both mac's and pc's play on the same server on cod4? I want to play some mates who all have pc's...Alot of people I talk to on cod4 say you can't, But I thought you could?

Can anyone shed some light?

You'll be needing the latest update though:

This is an official update for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. This patch will update any retail version of the game to version 1.7. This patch brings the Mac version of the game up to the current PC version so Mac users will be able to play cross platform multi-player games.
