Anyone have any experience with the Codec M malware? What does it actually do? I installed it a few weeks ago to watch some video at some streaming website (forget where). Video worked fine after installing it. I didn't notice any changes at all on my computer, nor did I notice any weird Little Snitch requests, so I couldn't actually tell what the 'malware' did, if anything at all. I didn't even think about it until Chrome today told me that it was malware.
Someone on the Internet said it was related to "Codec-C" for PC, but from what I can tell it has 0 of the same symptoms (e.g. ad insertion everywhere). I've removed it, but I'm not sure if I need to do any additional damage control, change passwords everywhere, etc. Haven't had any web hack problems. I could not find ANYONE actually describing what it -did- and why it was malware.
Yes, I probably should've done a google search before installing a program recommended by Sockshare or whatever.
E: It didn't even change my homepage or anything. Maybe I didn't install it 'properly' (I don't think I ever actually opened the .App, although I might've run an installer.).
