Codec problem?

When I play a certain video(it's .avi file) through Front Row or DivX player I see a flickering white line, made up of small rectangles on the right side of the screen. In VLC, the same video has a superimposed green diagonal line through it. Any ideas what the problem could be?

I don't have problems with any of my other videos, just this one. Also, I have only installed the DivX codecs.

I would suggest that as all other files are OK that one has been badly encoded and the artefacts you are seeing are part of the file.
