Hey!
I'm looking to get the base 27-inch model as I have the opportunity to buy it at a greatly discounted price and it would be a pity to let it slip away. I'm also looking to upgrade the RAM, the Flash SSD and the CPU ( I'm perfectly okay with voiding the warranty ). Has anyone by any chance had the opportunity to drop in one of the Coffee Lake CPUs into the current generation iMacs? I'm particularly interested in the i7-8700 model as it has the same TDP rating (65W) as the Kaby Lake i5-7500 it would replace which would result in greater CPU performance without any excess noise/heat. The only hindrance to the CPU upgrade that I can think of would be some kind of an EFI issue..
What do you guys think?
Thanks
