College students how much paper did/ do you use for notes?

EDIT: I mean just notes not assignments.

depends on what you mean by paper.

If you are counting the print outs I make of the slides and put in my binder then you are talking 1000+ pages per semester. I jot down extra notes on those.

I know I print out a lot of stuff.

Exactly. I had a full spiral of notes per class myself plus slides if they offered them online. Also a lot of my professors would electronically save what they were writing on the "overhead projector" and post those online too.

I voted 350+ because it was most likely thousands of pages throughout college.

I haven't reached university level yet but so far over the years I've been at primary school/high school it must have been hundreds of thousands of sheets of paper used. It's kinda ridiculous.

Your poll is almost meaningless because it doesn't take into account the length of a class or the units.

For example, a think most organic chemistry students can slay whole rain forests while a class on The Dialogues of Plato might require only one notebook.

In any event, just stock up on paper now while everyone has it on sale. It's not like it can expire. If you don't end up using it, who cares? Donate it to a school, a library, or a student in need.

Where is the "I type my notes on my laptop" option?

I almost always type my notes on my laptop unless the teacher doesn't allow laptops for some reason.

Are you just going to University, Waloshin?

He is currently

How long can this go on?

but just for the Summer. ;)

If you're talking about spiral notebooks, I'd say grab a LOT. I went through 3 or 4 just for math, and some classes barely had to take notes.

Spiral notebooks are cheap this time of year just stock up on them.

Depends what classes you take. Last semester I used about 50 pages, this semester I've barely used any.

EDIT: As a pre-emptive strike, I'm gonna go ahead and say I used 4 pens, just before that comes up as a new thread.

Seriously. You should just make a single "Waloshin goes to college"-thread, and put all your questions there, rather than start a million very narrow random threads about stuff you need help deciding... ;)

I use between 40-60 pages per class. Except classes that I didn't take notes in, those classes I would use about 10 pages in. I wish I could vote 50-100, but alas that option was forgotten; I voted "less than 50"

As an undergraduate (mechanical engineering), I used between 100-150 pages per class, per semester. Keep in mind that's a LOT of formula derivation and diagrams, and I didn't write on the back because I used engineering paper.

As a graduate (business administration and information systems), almost all of my notes were taken on a laptop.

I use an ungodly amount of paper....I usually have 200 page notebook per class per semester. Then, another 200 from notes i take from books of each class, then what ever printouts I have. Its insane.

I'm at a weird place for notes. Whenever possible, I like to use my computer because I can type like the wind and I can send notes to "the cloud." This also makes it easy when someone misses a day and asks for my notes, I just send them an email.

However, some teachers hate the use of computers in classrooms and thus I use reporter's notebooks. I buy these by the box, because they're cheap, but a little small.
I can write very well in them, but I like to transcribe my notes as soon as possible so my notes don't get "cold."

As an undergrad I used legal pads and I used those by the box too.
