i know they have the laminated display. But did they fix the color gamut on the mini 4 so it's more crisp and accurate now like the iPhone?

There was some reviewer who indicated so, and with the laminated display it has to be at least somewhat better. I guess we'll find out this week when they start shipping.

Noone knows for sure yet. However, my bet is yes on the color gamut fix. I had the Mini original and Mini 2 as well as ipad Air Original and Air 2 to compare against. Comparing side by side you could easily tell the inferior color gamut of the mini's by simply looking at the red and purple app icons. On the mini's, they appeared more bluish and orange (ie you couldn't miss it if you tried). In another thread, someone posted a side picture of the Mini 4 and Air 2 and the icon colors look the same....to my eye at least. So, it appears to have been fixed. I'm still going to wait for confirmation before buying one though.

I'm also going to wait for confirmation on 2GB ram and on some reviews on performance given the A8 chip. I'm a bit suspect when it comes to Apple and the Mini updates as they always feel the need to cripple it in some way. Maybe it's just the fact that they used the A8 this time and maybe that's not that big of a deal. We'll see. Why Apple can't just make 7.9 and 9.7 versions of the iPad with equal performance specs is beyond me.
