Will the 2018 MacBook get a wider color gamut ? Why does my iPad Pro display look so much better than MacBook 12" ?

You can meassure how precise a screen is, but how "good" something looks is subjective. A lot of people think an oversaturated display looks good, but it's not accurate.

Maybe what you like isn't the P3 colour gamut, but rather that it's a brighter display? Or ProMotion? Or perhaps it uses a different dimming technology to increase the contrast ratio.

To be more direct with respect to your question, yes, I am quite confident the next model of MacBook will have the P3 colour space, as pretty much every other Mac has it by now. Then again, I'd say you'd need a 10-bit display to really get the benefits of a wide colour display. Otherwise you're just stretching the colours out, also adding more holes in between, and I find it harder to believe the MacBook will get a 10-bit panel. So even if you get a wider colour spectrum, you're still left with only 256 samples per primary, which leads you with less precision within that spectrum.

Technical stuff aside, what aspects of your iPad's display do you like and feel you lack on your Mac?
