I'm not entirely sure how the keyboard is wired up, but my best guess is that it has a couple of LEDs somewhere that do the lighting... Changing these for colored ones would essentially do what you're asking.
It might be more complicated than it sounds... Like I said, I don't know how they're wired, but you gotta keep in mind the LEDs change intensity and whatnot, so you'd want to get that kind, and if they're directly soldered to the motherboard for any reason, you'd need some skill xD
I would very much like to change the color of mine as well though, it's a nifty idea :p

By "changing the color I mean changing the physical key color, not the backlight. Although changing the backlight color is quite easy, I helped my friend do it.

Here is the instructional video that I used to change the color of the backlight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ahuJVyDgfk

The only way to do this is to paint the keys by hand, leaving the letters untouched as if you paint over them you will no longer see the backlight through the letter.

This will be nigh impossible.

Hmm, this would be an interesting thing for someone to try. I think I will try with my old white macbook and use a powdered paint product.

it sounds like a lot of work, but I don't see a problem. Take the keys off the keyboard, cover the letter, and paint it.

Good luck, and send pics when you're done!

Ill see where I can get powdered paint. I live on an outer Hawaiian Island so it might be a bit difficult. But I love challenges. :D

I'm thinking of putting seran wrap on the keys and cutting over letters with an X-acto knife then apply the powdered paint around that.

I don't think it will work, but I wish you the best. You'll need something better than seran wrap, as it won't stick to just the letter, they're too small. Some painter's tape might work, though.

Even they don't paint the actual keys.

damn etsy, they have everything now.

i have carbon fiber wrap so the black keys match perfect. unless they can make carbon fiber ones, then ill buy
