In time machine now with lion my my dates on the right side some of them are in silver and some in purple. This is new since lion, was curious if anyone knows why this is? In SL they were all silver. Any thoughts?

Are you on a laptop?

I think it has to do with the way Time Machine now store some local backups on the laptop itself. Those silver lines show what snapshots are stored locally.

If you look at the lines in Time Machine and note the dates/times. Then if you go to in Finder:

Go -> Go to folder: /Volumes

You'll see a MobileBackups folder. In mine on my Macbook which I backup with Time Capsule....I see folders corresponding to the local MobileBackups.

On my Mac Pro which backs up to an external FW drive....I don't see any silver lines in the TM interface.
