The calculator in the ColorSync Utility app is not detecting colors.

It can only pick a color from the ColorSync utility window and the desktop wallpaper.

I tried getting the color from a PDF in the Preview app, an image from the Photos app, and a webpage in Safari.

Is it just me?

Same here ... almost. It can't see any other apps, but does see the Desktop and Menu names.

It also broke setting a custom background colour - it defaults to making the desktop white.

Edit: I see there’s a separate thread for this one…

The behavior looks the same on 15.3.2. The color finder on the older version is also unable to see other windows, but picking up colors from the desktop directly.

Add the ColorSync Utility to Privacy & Security - Screen & System Audio Recording.
When you will start the ColorSync Utility, there will be a message to bypass the system private window picker.
Allow it and it will work.

Could it be a permissions thing? Like it needs the screen recording permission enabled.

It's now working correctly after I added the app to the Screen & System Audio Recording permission screen. Thank you.
