After 3 weeks of waiting, both of my iPhone 3G's arrived today. The look awesome. The only snag that I hit was that Colorware forgot to send the SIM card tray for the blue/white one. But they immediately overnighted a new one to me.

Wow, that red one is amazing! I don't really care for the blue, and I'm sure that it was too expensive for me.

your next topic is gonna be

"AGH I DROPPED MY IPHONE AND SCRATCHED MY CUSTOM PAINT!"

"and now i'm gonna have to pay them $50 for a touch up =("

i'll be there to say,
"hah"

Nah, they'll go in a full case an other then the home button and maybe the trim no one will know they are painted :D
`cause you don't want to scratch up that $200 paint job ;)

The blue is not bad but the blue home button looks like crap for some reason. The red totally pops and is right up my alley. I hope they don't go into a case, otherwise what is the point? Put an IS on it and be done. :)

i knew it.
they're going into cases.

just like mine is.
now we pretty much have the same ipod,
mines just cheaper by $200.
oh crystal case you say? you say it's
unique cause it'll show the apple logo?
oh you didn't know what to do with the
extra $200?
i hope you have some kind of insurance
for that $10worth of paint.

Well negative nancy ... nice to meet you. And I don't think he mentioned a case. I think we all mentioned it. Don't worry about the OP's bank account. If he is happy that is all that matters.

Agreed, they do look great (red is best), but the painted home buttons spoil them somewhat.
Yeah, it just looks out of place unless you're looking at the phone from the side, at just the right angle.

Other than that, WOW. Those are gorgeous!!!

il laugh so hard when something goes wrong with your 3g and apple gives you a refurb :D

That's very mature.

I like both of them but particularly the red, I think the lighting in the second set of pictures really does the red justice and I can't help feeling that if the blue had been photographed in exactly the same way people might feel differently; I realise it's down to nothing more than the angle of light and shadow but it seems to make a big difference.

Why are people so concerned over how much it cost the OP? Or whether s/he is going to put a case on these handsets? What really makes me laugh is those of you that ridicule the OP for paying extra for ColorWare and then criticize him/her when someone else [and NOT the OP] suggests that the handsets might be cased, I don't understand why some people think their opinion is so valid when really they're nothing more than a troll.

I am glad that the attitudes and opinions of the minority of those that seem to post in the iPhone sections of the MR forum do not transcend the other sections, but it does make you wonder why all the idiots seem to congregate here.

Whilst not for me (I've got mine in a rubber case) I think both look amazing. Really vibrant. I think the red home button is great.

Perhaps Apple will eventually offer coloured phones.

not trying to be a hater like everyone else but I could have done this for like 50. May I ask why the bezel was painted?? I've done some custom paint on tool boxes so I've got some experience painting and masking and this couldn't be that hard. The home button looks like a colours by switcheasy LOL. I think the red would look good with a brushed bezel and tbeblue with the chrome.

my point exactly, but i was $40 short.

you interpreted it in a less As shole-ish way though. +1 for not getting annoyed at stupid things.

Wow, so many negative comments. The phones are only going to have a BSE and Power Support Screen protector on them. If(or when) they get scratched it's not that big of a deal. In a year Apple will probably have another iPhone out and I can have that one sent to Colorware.

It's just a phone, but there is nothing wrong with having some fun with your phone.

I think they look fantastic--I especially like the metallic blue. It reminds me of a car I used to have and has kind of a retro look to it--at least for me!

You know, this is a fun alternative if you happen to acquire a lot of scratches on your phone at some point. Just get it painted and not only are the scratches gone but you have something unique. One question, is the chrome painted as well? Looks like its white in the pics.
