Hi All

I have just bought a 2Ghz MacBook Pro and I am really happy with it but I do have one question regarding the top menubar.

If you look at the menubar it is not the same colour. The bottom half is a slight shade darker. Is this correct? Looking at some screenshots posted on here other macs look the same. I have got a 20" Imac at home and I have not noticed this before.

Cheers

Ben

The menubar is slightly different in different versions of OS X. This is what it looks like in Tiger, PPC or Intel. In Panther, it didn't have this shading, but may have been very subtly striped. Funny, I don't remember now. IIRC, in Jaguar, it was striped.

My iMac G4 w/ Tiger has the 2-toned menubar as well. Hah thats funny I never really noticed it either. :D

The menu bar has varied from 10.2 to 10.3 and to 10.4, but not within subcategories. What you are seeing is completely normal. They could have shaded it much better IMO, but it's normal.

Thanks very much for your quick replies, they have put my mind at rest.

Now that is sorted I am 110% happy with my MBP, it is a very very nice machine to work with

It's just a graphic representation of shiny white plastic.
IMO it's too busy for a basic operating system GUI element.
Personally, I wish they would settle on a simpler design for the system GUI.
OS9 was pretty good.
