I have seen coloware mentioned here before. Anyhow they are at it again.

Coloware reissues Apple Mac mini with Apple M4 in retro look

The Apple Mac mini was given a brand new and much more compact design last fall, although it is only available in silver. ColorWare is now offering the Mac mini with Apple M4 in a retro design, either in beige or black.

What do you think. Not sure if it's worth the extra $$. And I already have a mini m4. But I really like the beige one with the colorful apple logo. to sure about the black one but the beige one really reminds me of the old days. What do you all think?
 
Per the Coloware website, this is a hard pass:

“This is an aftermarket customized electronic device. All hardware related warranty service is the sole responsibility of ColorWare. The original manufacturer is under no obligation to repair or refund this product. ColorWare is not an authorized reseller of Apple products. ColorWare replaces all existing manufacturer warranty policies.”

Agrees but looks cool. Is that a custom shell? How are they even doing that?

Yes it's a custom shell. Since everything they've done stylistically is in effect a reduction in terms of materials from the usual shell, it might just be that they ripped off the first batch of shells from Minis they keep as internal parts donors, strip, mill and refinish them, and they were the 'seed' shells that they started production with. So if you buy a Colorware Mini it's e.g. possible the shell on your Mini actually came from an earlier Mini in their inventory.
 
Colorware is a rich-persons company. Everyone I know who got stuff from them was really happy with the quality but it's not cheap at all.

Its for people who care more about a brand and looks than function (or a warranty for that matter ofc), and addressing Apple gear is how a company like that can survive.

I wouldn't imagine a bigger percentage of actually rich people buy into this at all.

I'm betting a majority of Colorware owners have the same mentality and also are like the people you see on vtuber room reviews: tens of thousands of dollars in merch, cramped apartment.
