I have 8T blade HDs that I want to connect to a Mac Pro running OSX server (10.6.5). The best connection that I have on the back of the Mac Pro is FW800, but the blade drives both have eSATA.

Can I connect the two drives together with eSATA, and then one of the drives to the Mac Pro via FW800? Is there an advantage to doing this, or should I just use FW800 throughout?

While I'm asking stupid questions, is there any disadvantage to daisy-chaining drives via FW versus plugging them into their own port on the the Mac Pro?

Thanks

Why don't you just install an eSATA PCI Express card?

Many of them have generic SIL-based chipsets, and they should be compatible with OS X.
