Combining iTunes Libraries

We have iTunes libraries resident on two machines - MacPro and MacbookPro and would like to be able to combine them. Is there a simple way for a layman to do this. Some songs have been purchased legitamayely via iTunes, others imported from disc and others sent (legally) to us by our clients. Can anyone help here - please refrain from gobbledegeek as we are quite ancient and slow.

Enabling "home sharing" will allow you to see both libraries on each machine if they are on the same wireless network.

Thanks for that Spacecadet, we already have homesharing but what we want to do is to have a single, consolidated iTunes library - at our age having two of lots of things is very confusing (except those things you are meant to have two of)

There's a process involved, but we'll take it one step at a time.

1. Hopefully, the music on each computer is stored in a single folder (with or without subfolders) and not scattered all over the drive. That makes part of the process easier.
2. Next, do you have these boxes checked or unchecked in iTunes > Preferences?
