Hi,

I have an 'early 2009' MacbookPro. I want to be able to output video and sound that can then be combined into one HDMI signal that will be passed to an AV Receiver.

I understand that this is a much simpler process for later Macs but the mini dp port did not support audio on my model.

So, is there a single adapter or combination of two that will achieve this. I purposely have not stated that the sound or video must come from any particular port.

Thanks in advance,

Catanddave

I'm not aware of a solution for this problem. On the PC side of things it is possible to inject a sp-dif signal into a DVI signal and pass that over an HDMI port however it requires have a compatible graphics card with the necessary hardware input and software drivers to make it all work. I doubt you can manage that on your older MBP, especially since the necessary pins aren't even installed in the socket.

Sorry man, maybe you can use Airplay or another streaming solution?

Thanks RedRaven571. This looks like what I need. Only problem seems to be that it costs £48 in the UK via Amazon!
