Is the combo drive on power pc mac able to read double layer dvd ?

I searched it on google but could'nt find a precise answer.

Seems that way, or is that answer not precise enough:

Shouldn't be a problem at all, even the original DVD players can handle dual-layer DVDs.

I also forgot to add, that my 2004 iBook had a Combo Drive and read commercial video DVDs, which are DL DVDs, without a problem.
