I've been contemplating ordering Comcast's 50mbps cable internet service.
I can get my AppleTV hard wired, via ethernet, to the AEBS and Comcast modem, but all other computers in the household will have to be connected via wireless (802.11n with or without 'G' support).
I ran some speed tests, transferring a 1GB file from my MacBook Air(802.11n) to my Mac Pro (hard wired via ethernet to the AEBS).
Wireless-N only ('G' compatibility turned off):
Receive
Average: 49 Mbps
Peak: 61.9 Mbps
802.11n with 'G' support (needed for my iPhone, but is expendable), was about 35/45mbps (average/peak respectively).
Can anyone with the 50mb service tell me what average download speeds they see? Is it nothing close to 50? Does it exceed 50mbps at all sometimes? It would be a waste of money if I can't reap the rewards of the service.
