I have been a longtime iOS user since the iPhone 3G, but a couple of years ago I switched to a Galaxy S9. I have kept my iCloud storage subscription active in case I ever came back (I figured, whats $12/year to keep my data?).

My iPhone 12 Pro will be here soon and I'm trying to figure out the best way to switch back while retaining the most of my data. My understanding is that it isn't currently possible to use Apple's "Move to iOS" app from Android AND to restore from an iCloud backup at the same time.

So, I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about this. Here are the options I have seen so far, but would love some feedback from anyone else who has switched back and forth.

Option 1: Restore from iCloud backup made 2 years ago and use Google to sync contacts and Google Photos to get my S9 Photos over.

Option 2: Setup using "Move to iOS" and let photos and iMessages populate from iCloud after setup.

Option 3: Just set up as new and sync Contacts and Photos over via both Google and iCloud services.

Any ideas on what I'd gain/lose in terms of other data from each method listed above, or additional methods that would work even better?
