Coming back to iOS from android, have gps question

I know my previous iPhone 3 had poor built in gps issues and needed a clip on kit. Does the iphone4 have the same issue or can I just use a standard dash kit.

Already have the tom-tom app from before I just hope the newer iphone is as good as my moto droidX.

I've had the 3G and now have the 4 and the GPS acts the same for me. It's quite good. My 3G never needed a cradle to work properly. What exactly was your issue with it?

Biggest issue was if in tight areas like new York highways it would place on a different lane errr highway.
