It seems recently, when my MacBook Pro 2019 is asleep for more than say 30 minutes (or it could just be based on having nothing running and going into hibernate mode), to light up the display and start working again, I have to press the power button - then it comes right back. If I just do a test and put it to sleep and then tap the touch pad or strike a key, it comes back that way.

I noticed this because about a week ago I started to have to hit the power button to bring it back when I opened the laptop first thing in the morning.

Why do sometimes I have to hit the power button to bring it back, and not tap the touch pad? I am pretty sure up until a week or so ago I didn't have to do this.

My Energy preferences have been set like this, forever:

Thanks!

Sadly can’t contribute a solution but I have similar issues. Sometimes my MBP 13“ 2020 (4TB) does take really long to wake up after opening the display. I often think that it shut down but after almost a minute the display does go on and it works as nothing has happened. Sometimes only pressing the power button as you do helps.
