The command key on my 2008 Macbook pro has fallen off. It still functions without the cover but I don't want to use it like that. Can I just glue it back on or will that make it too stiff and render it useless? I use the command key quite a bit with my design programs. I use this laptop everyday practically all day.

I've seen many users report that Apple will give them a new key at no cost. It might be worth trying.

Assuming it just popped off, you can reattach it yourself. If the part that came off is just the black key, you will need to remove the white hinge underneath it first, slot it into the key, then clip the key and hinge back onto the keyboard.

geoffreak - free sounds great!

borisiii - how do I remove the hinge? Do I need a special tool?
