Hey, I have problems closing other windows running on background. I tried to use cmd+option+w but it doesn't work. I really find this command useful when having several firefox pop-up windows open. Does someone knows what might be the problem? I'm using mac os x 10.6.4 on a macbook pro.

Option-Command-W closes all windows of an app, not the other windows.

I know that and I always search before posting. So tell me why I can't close other Firefox windows??? I hear an "error sound" when I do cmd+option+w.

An application in the background doesn't have keyboard focus. Therefore, no keystrokes can be used to trigger actions.

Modifier keys, however, can be detected by backgrounded apps. So if you click the red circle widget (Close Window) while Option is held down, then even a backgrounded app will close all windows without coming to the front. I tried this in several standard Mac apps (Finder, TextEdit, Terminal, etc.) and it works in all of them. If it doesn't work in Firefox, then file a bug against Firefox.
