1. Background music on review or tutorial videos.
There must be some unwritten rule somewhere in the universe that you just have to add background music to videos or you'll be struck by lightning, because it seems like 99% of people do it, and many times it's also way too loud and almost always an annoying song. Are we afraid of silence or something?
2. The "normal speed - normal speed - slow speed" edit
This normally happens on videos where someone's trying to do a hit piece on someone. They'll focus on something the person says that they think is stupid, a lie, an admission of guilt, etc. and will edit the video so the person says it twice at normal speed and then a third time at half speed or slower. Why not just pause the footage/audio and discuss it instead of employing this overused "technique" that makes you come across as an overdramatic conspiracy theorist?
3. Interjecting movie clips (normally out of context) to make it sound like the character in that clip is agreeing with or responding to you, etc.
Movie trailers are infamous for doing this, which is probably where people get the idea from. I'm not sure if people are doing this to make their videos longer or if they genuinely think it's entertaining. I guess I can tolerate it if they do it once, but I've seen videos where they do it over and over. Save yourself all the extra editing time compiling and inserting those clips and skip it!
Those are the three big ones for me.
