I've owned three of Apple's unibody machines, and all of them have had the same problems. What is it with Apple and their quality testing?

  • 2008 15" MacBook Pro
  • 2009 13" MacBook Pro
  • 2011 15" MacBook Pro

All of the above have had both of the following:
  • Creaking hinge.
  • Buzzing fans.

Why can't they figure out how to stop these problems from occurring? The fans are easily fixed with a screwdriver and lubricant, but the squeaking and creaking hinge issue is impossible to resolve without removing the display assembly from the body of the laptop (which is damn near impossible).

My 2011 Mac just started buzzing today, and it's been creaking for a few weeks now. All my machines do is sit on a desk all day. These are all $2000+ machines - I expect quality.

My brother had a MBA that kind of creaked at the bottom when you picked it up defiantly did not sound pleasant. I never had any issues with my 2010 21.5 inch iMac. I do plan on getting a 15 inch rMBP very soon I hope it doesn't have any quality issues like you mentioned above or any display issues I expect that laptop to be very high quality for what is cost.
