I was hoping that the new general 'mac' lineup would have some sort of blu-ray optical drive included by now, but Apple has once again disappointed me and are still two years behind everyone else.
That Hp 15" is looking good right about now.

Now come on, Bluray is gonna be gone soon. You can bet on that!

Agreed, those nice looking HP laptops get ever more tempting, Apple are starting to wind me up a bit. I know that they can put the tech in there but they must be choosing not to, just so they can keep doing these little update things like every Thursday.

Apple's stance on Blu-ray is well documented and no mystery

Good luck with the crap whole that is Windows!

Blue ray is a suckers format. Big bucks for no real benefit.

overrated

blu-ray is over-rated on a laptop. I had it on mine, used it once. Plus, if on an airplane, you will have to bring another battery bc playing blu-ray eats the power up.

I think its fairly safe to assume that Apple will never be installing blu-ray optical drives in their computers. Like MacDawg stated this is not really a mystery if you have followed Apple tech news through the last couple of years.
