Compact apple wireless keyboard problem, duplicate letters

Hello all

I recently got a problem with my compact apple wireless keyboard. It turns out that whenever I press the option key (alt) I get the TM symbol (i.e. trademark symbol). Furthermore, when I press the letter o I get io, and the same goes for i. Looking more into it, the keys (8, 9), (i, o), (k, l) and (, .) shows the same behaviour. Can this be a software problem or is it more likely a hardware problem. As far as I know there has not been any fluid spillage in the keyboard :)
