How much do you think that this go's on ?

I for one think there may be more than a few Apple people on here for instance .....it's just some of the posts I read are , well , too positive toward Apple to be true , if you know what I mean ?!.

Your thoughts...?

There have been several times computer games companies have removed sponsorship and/or ads from sites that have given unfavourable reviews.

Shills. Everywhere.

This post is bought to you by PG Tips. Delicious, natural and refreshing.

Posts, you say? Pah. Proper shills use their usernames to promote their products.

Fancy something chocolatey with that cuppa, BV? :)

hehe , well I didn't really want to say but anyone fancy a game :p

I noticed also a few times that when someone posts particular problems with certain items , the posts sometimes get dampened down by other people , it seems in order to diffuse the threads flow .

Smashing. :)

Apple or their representatives check out these forums, there's no doubt about that, and they'd be crazy not to; these forums are a wealth of market research and feedback.

However, to pay people to counter negative views is less likely, I feel. Fact is, for every opinion on this board there's a countervailing view. One person may have continual problems with machines, returning them time and time again... others have no problems at all, and I would think that they are in the majority in most instances.

I wouldn't expect this really happens.

It does. Strangely bad hotel reviews when the place was excellent and vice versa. Comments that are hugely biased and come from posters with low post counts look fake to me, there were several in the Cocoa vs .NET thread on Arstechnica like that.

However, to pay people to counter negative views is less likely, I feel.

Certainly on Arstechnica its a known issue that Microsoft does actually do this. Though I've never heard an accusation of Apple doing the same.

Seems to me that most of it is self promoting, so I guess newbies are paying themselves
