Dear all, I just wonder how are they different perform between these items? The size or portable doesn't matter But What are they really matter i7 and i5 ?

macbookPro 15-inch: 2.2 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
and
Imac 27-inch: 3.1GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5

thank you very much

Intel assigns i7, i5 labels not only because of speed but also TDP. The i7 in the MacBookPro is an i7 because it has only 45W TDP while the Desktop i5 needs a lot more power. The i5 in the imacs even if it is still Lynnfield is only 0-10% slower per clock maximum. The i5 is still much faster.
There is no difference in Cache or Features.

seconded. most desktop processors are faster than mobile ones due to lack of power constraint
