This is likely to be the one that a lot of folks who have been patiently waiting (and avoiding the butterfly generation) care about - best video so far on this topic.

I have late 2013 15in MacBook 2.6ghz quad core i7 16gb ram and 1TBHDD. Went to the Apple store today to feel the new KB.

Idk, in my humble opinion, I do not feel the new KB is like 2013 at all. The 2013 has taller feel to the keys, better key travel and more "snap" feel to the key press.

The 2016 16in MacBook Pro KB on 2 display models barely felt different to me than a 13in MacBook pro sitting next to it. The 16in had a little more key travel but not much. The keys do not have a similar tactile feel to key press as I have on my 2013 model

My 2013 model has a messed up screen from the coating. I found out to late to do anything under repair program(I had Apple care + too-- Apple could have notified us they had this repair program ).
At this point, I am not sure I want the new 16in laptop, I was so excited and itching to buy it for the increased screen size and new KB....BUT I am not sure it is close to the tactile feel on my 2013 MacBook which I am typing on right now.

I am underwhelmed by the KB despite the reviewers impressions. The spec look great though

@nealh i know how u feel. I have a 2014 MBP which had the screen discoloration but didn't know about the repair program. I got a different problem (vertical white lines on screen at random places) so I took it in. Diagnosed as needing screen replacement at about $650 cost. Dismayed! Then the tech looked at my screen closely and said he saw the discoloration issue as well - tbh it was very minor in the edge and I hated even noticed it. But that was enough for the tech to order a new part. At no cost! So the entire screen was changed costing me ZERO $. Amazing customer service, if u ask me.

Now re: the keyboard - I have tried all 3 macbook keyboards and I can say this - the 2014 has the best key travel. 2016-2019 butterfly is just no travel at all - I hated it. 2019 16" MBP is closer to the 2014 keyboard; when I tried it at the Apple Store, it was very very good, I could see me being very happy with it. I was not going to buy the 16" MBP if it had a compromised typing experience. I am a developer and I am typing so much.

Yes your CS was excellent. The stores near me never provide service like that. I wish I got that kind of service.
I am glad the kb on 16in MacBook is what your happy with. It’s not bad but the pre-2015 kb are still better in my humble opinion. I’m not sure why they did not just go back to that kb.
The crazy thing is and interview with Schiller indicates they may or may not change across all the MacBooks. 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️
They feel the butterfly kb is getting better in its 3rd generation. I hope they dump it completely for the other MacBooks too

As for me idk what I’m going to do. I am seriously thing about just seeing if I can get my screen replaced. I love my 2013 MacBook and battery only has had 270 cycles.

But, I will likely give in to upgrade fever and get a new one and adapt to the kb and end up loving it in the end I’m sure
