Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

So I'm considering purchasing a new MBP, it would be great to see people's experiences on the performance between the i5 and the i7. I will be using the laptop for browsing, emulators, and very light gaming (since I travel very frequently). Is the extra performance of the i7 really worth it?

Nope. The difference is hardly noticeable so there isn't really a point in getting it. I got it because I like the number 7 and I really push my laptop to its maximum (I tend to run softwares like Maya and Mudbox). For your needs, the i5 is good enough. In fact, I'd recommend the air since you travel frequently and don't have much need for processing power.
