Compass on 4S always needs calibration every use

Any time I use an app that requires the compass including the compass it asks me to do the fig 8 to recalibrate it. This happens every where I am including outside in an open field. Pretty annoying. This just started happening.

Did you ever have this looked at?

My 4S suffers from this as well and I'm wondering if this is normal? My 4 never had to be calibrated this much.

No... you shouldn't have to recalibrate every time you use it. Clearly there is something off about this.

i got bought my 4s on 27 December 2011, i recalibrated it when i first bought it, then again after i got it unlocked through iTunes via my carrier. so mine seems to work

Do you realize probably everytime you try to recalibrate your compass you're probably not faceing true north...
