I have a Mirror Drive Door G4 with an Optical Drive that is currently failing. I picked up a Sony CD-RW drive to replace it with, and only realized after I'd gotten home that it says 'for Windows' on it. Does this just mean that I can't use the bundled apps or that the drive itself will not work in my machine? I appreciate any response.

Thanks,
Chris

You will likely have no problems whatsoever with the drive. If you have an older OS then you may need to run PatchBurn, but that probably won't be necessary.

For Windows means that it only has the Windows burning apps. The burning apps are built into Mac OS X, iTunes, Disk Utility, etc. Gotta love the :apple: way.

Thanks, guys. I have, however, run into another problem. The molded plastic of my drive door is very much in the way of the cd tray. The Philips drive that came with my machine is very slim and so had no problems navigating the oddly narrow slot. Do any of you know of a similarly slim drive, or is external my best bet?

Thanks,
Chris
