Compatibility between iMovie09 and iMovieHD 6.0.4

Hello. I am considering to try out iMovie09. I read that some of the good features of iMovie HD 6 were not available in iMovie08. Then, Apple put a few of those removed features back to iMovie09. Can I install iMovie09 and keep the original iMovie HD 6 in the same computer? If I do not like iMovie09, can I simply delete its folder without affecting iMovie HD 6? Will I mess up the computer system and iMovie related files if I do this? Is iLife 2010 going to be available in January 2010? Thanks.
